Aspen Magazine | The Asia Issue (#10)

Aspen Magazine
The Asia Issue (#10)
New York City, USA: Aspen Communications Inc,, 1971
34.2 x 23.3 x 0.4 cm
Box containing fifteen numbered items, no advertisements and no editorial credits.

The magazine’s 1971 swan song was dedicated to Asian Art and Philosophy. The first art-historical issue, and a huge departure from the contemporary conceptual and media artists featured in the previous volumes, the tenth and final issue is the scarcest and hardest to find. When near-complete sets of the periodical are offered in auction, it is this issue most are missing. There are no more than half a dozen accounts of the magazine’s history online, and none of them dedicate more than a sentence to this issue. An online version of the issue is available at ubuweb, here, though it is missing Section 13 (whereas all of the previous issues are complete).
